For more than a century, bread wheat has been a globally traded commodity grown across the Great Plains. Today, there is a revival of growing and harvesting bread wheat up and down the coastal United States, providing local millers and bakers with high-quality, organic grain.
The Wheat Movie documents the resurgence of the local wheat farmer, the local grist mill, and the truly local loaf of bread.
We are currently in postproduction on our short film focusing on the local wheat movement in North Carolina. Stay tuned to this site, and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and on Facebook for up-to-date information about the project, and to stay informed on the latest news on the organic movement, micro-economies, and the local and global effects of commodity markets.
See you in the wheat!
